My father in law gave us a set of dvd's to watch. He says " this guy is good. He decodes the differences in men and women and he's funny. I wish I'd known this a long time a go. " Well Scott and I are always up for any improvements, or education on marriage.
So there is a set of 5 movies and we watched the 1st one and were like, Oh ok, we like this guy. We are now almost through with the 2nd one and things are really beginning to make sense!
Women and men , by no secret, speak and HEAR different languages. It's not wrong just different! We are learning to not only speak different, but understand that whatever I just said may have been mis heard by the other person. ( and this includes actions/ body language also)
So I want to encourage anyone who is married, or about to be married, on the way to divorce, or even single, to get ahold of this series. He also has several books.
His name is Dr. Emerson Eggerich Love and Respect Please take a look at his site, and find something that suits you. I think you will be surprised!
I see where lots of people are doing The Love Dare and I love it! I'm not sure that it's for us at this time, but I think it's a great one and I would love to do it sometime too!! I loved the movie FIREPROOF and I bet the book is just as amazing!!! I want to hear updates on anyone doing it. Is it making a difference??

9 months old!
What a fun age!
Yesterday my baby girl turned 9 months old.
She is now eating like a big girl! We still " smash " up her food. We do seasonal veggies and fruit. Now we do meats like chicken, turkey, ham. I like to get her meat from whole foods. I cook it with a little butter, maybe some garlic powder to season it up a little. We just give her little chunks and she loves it! She's eating 2-3 big girl meals a day with a little snacking in between on her cheerios. We just started her on yogart. I'm excited b/c this is her first introduction to cows milk! So far she seems to be LOVING it. I don't know if I can think of anything that she doesn't like though. Still nursing 4-6 times a day as well.
She is very mobile. She can stand and walk along things like furniture. She can sit down now, instead of PLOPPING down. She will pick things up from a standing position. Her P.A.T. teacher says that these are signs of being on the verge of WALKING!!!!!!! She is now going from one piece of furniture to another. And I'll randomly catch her standing briefly un assisted! She's a big girl. I don't know what she weighs, but probably around the 15l bs range. She's just moving right along now.
She is very much a mommy and daddy's baby right now. While she has a hard time seeing us go, or walking out of the room, sometimes- She does very well once we're gone. So she has a little bit of seperation anxiety which is totally normal at this age. But she still does just great when we're gone! Happy as EVER! She's very friendly. She'll talk and play with anyone who will look. So in resturaunts and such she gets lots of attention.
Still no toofers yet. Which I'm not really complaining... But I hate to see her in pain on days that she is teething :-(
She is very smart. She is in to this " discovering " phase. She likes to dig in other words. This is a sign of intellegence so I'm not complaining, but I do have to be on top of my game and make sure she can't dig in something that I haven't child proofed yet. Her favorite is her diaper bag. It will entertain her for a while. I also just put all of her toys in a basket or box and she likes to pull them all out. Sometimes we play games like hide the ball. She's very good at finding it under a cup and she will even give it back to me to hide again.
We really enjoy being home with her. She is so interactive that there is never a dull moment.
Shes a great napper. Since the holidays, we've been a little out of wack, but she seems to be making a new schedule for herself. I'm trying to drop her 3rd nap of the day, but some days she just really needs it. And she is sleeping 12 hour nights so either way she does great. It's just nice to have that open time in the evening for events and such. But since we'll be slower in the next month or so, it shouldn't be a problem if she still likes to take it.

A small disclaimer.
I just want you to know, I am no where NEAR a professional writer! So please excuse my mis spellings and grammar issues! I just write what's on my mind and read it after I post it. I do try to fix my spellings but I don't write in a certain context, just straight from my brain! So don't just based of the form in which it's written in. It's all thoughts!!
Now til April
I'm thinking about Anisten's 1st birthday
Liam's 0th birthday
What happens after she turns one- What this means for me
Planning a birthday party
There is so much exciting-ness going on right now! From this month to April ( and beyond) we have so many great things coming up!
I'm thinking about what I'm going to do for Anisten's first birthday. I don't think I'll do any " theme " this year. I think by time she is 7 I'll be sick of Dora, princesses, and elmo! LOL. So I figure this year, we'll just do something girly. Like maybe " April flowers", or just pink and zebra stripes or something like that. I'm thinking of doing family and close friends for her first. Then next year doing a party with a bunch of kids around her age and such. I'm not sure just yet. We'll probably just do it here at the house, maybe a cook out with all of the family on both sides or something. So even just family and close friends will be lots of peeps!
Scott has a birthday coming up soon. I'm working on getting that together at Savastanos.
Melissa's baby shower is also in February. I'm having fun working on THIS too!! So many cute ideas. I must say that after almost 2 years of shopping for girls stuff and skipping over the little boy stuff, it's hard to retrain my eye!! But never the less, it's fun!
After April, we'll begin to wean Anisten to drink ( organic whole) cow's milk. Little at a time I will switch her over. What does this mean for me? No more pumping. No more having a set amount of time before I get extremely un comfortable. No more clogged ducts.... It also means, my baby is growing up. She is more self sufficient. She will need me ( in that way) less. It means that little at a time she will gain her independence. This I'm both happy and sad about. I understand why people want to " mother " or " baby " their kids beyond the point of HEALTHY. If you're built with that natural motherly instinct, as most women are, you just want to hold on. But I know and understand this is all part of a process. I would much rather be heart broken and sad that my baby is growing up, than have a very dependant, incapable child. For her sake, we have to let her grow up. She will more than likely be walking all over the place by time April rolls around. Goooooooo Anisten!! Big girl!
Liam Clyde Collis will make his entrance in to the world sometime in the month of April. We're thinking that he may not quite wait until his estimated arrival time, but sometime in the 2nd or 3rd week of April we will have a little BOY in our life! YAYAYAYAYAYAY!! And he will be very close for extra little lovins. I'll get my little boy fix :)
So with in the next few months, we have lots of excitement coming our way! yahoooo!

Chilvary... where are you hiding?
What happened to chilvary? Remember our grandma's telling us how things were back " in the day" of how the men took care of the women, and how he had to walk 2 miles up hill both ways to " call on her " and such.....
I know that the way the world works is so much different now. Women have the right to work and most do, but what happened to that game of cat and mouse that we were all designed to play? I can remember growing up, that my grandma or aunt would always tell me, " let him call you " - "Let him come out here and pick you upl"
I was taught that I was worth it.
I now have a man who calls just to say he loves me. Or comes home for lunch on a long work day to see me. One who after years of being together still holds my hand, gives me his coat, and opens my door.
But what happened to all of the other ones?!?! --------- I am just dumb founded when I am 13 months pregnants running in the rain to get in the door, and a man just gets right in front of me to go first, or doesn't think to hold the door open. Or when I'm wrangling an infant, car seat, basket, purse and someone just cuts me off to get in front of me in the line.
So are we as women taught to expect less? Or are the boys just not being taught to extend that extra bit of effort?
I think it's a little of both! I think it all begins when they are small ( like everything else!) I think that maybe women aren't taught to expect it, so they don't teach it to their sons.
Another thing that has happened is the feminist movement. I wont say much more for the sake of debate, but that's definitely got an effect on the social behavior of women and men.
Maybe someone else can shed some light on this topic?
Chilvary come back!!!

A healthy vow.
A fellow blogging mommy that I follow posted a pledge to be healthy! I like these simple guide lines that I thought I'd post it for my mommy friends to check out. I'm all about teaching and leading by example.
* If I wouldn't let my children eat it, I won't eat it myself.
This includes cigarettes! Alcohol, in moderation for special occassions is
okay.
* I will exercise at least 30 minutes each day.
Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. :)
(Exercise = Anything that gets your heart pumping!)
* I will not talk bad about my body, especially in front of my children.
Not only does talking bad about your body hurt yourself, it can teach your
children to do the same thing to themselves!
* I will encourage and support other Healthy Mommies
Comment on each others' blogs, post tips, share information, etc!

We can NOT teach our children something that we don't believe or better yet live. I think this includes healthy eating, sleeping, and exercise habits. We can't expect them to do something ( or not do something) if we aren't living it our self. I love how it talks about talking about your body. Like she says, it not only is damaging to yourself, but you are teaching your child ( especially girls) to do the same. Like " it's normal to not like my tummy or legs (etc) because Mommy doesn't" As girls we all have issues with our bodies, but I think that they can be cut down tremendously if we're implimeting all of these ( exercise, healthy eating habits and such) and just to not get in the habit of dis liking the way we look.
I like the if I wouldn't eat it, then why let my child eat it. Very good rule of thumb!!!!!!
So, as I myself will work on these things, I challenge you to think about your lifestyle too, and see if there is any room to wiggle some of these healthy choices in!

Christmas with Mom and Dad
Mom and Dad came in town for the weekend. The baby got lots more gifts! She got a xylophone, an electronic book, a very cute outfit from Rachel, some books a blanket, a phone, a new movie ( snow white) and a few other goodies.
She's been very good this weekend, since our schedule has been all out of whack! We will start back in January and Febuary on a schedule. She does so well with one, that I want to make sure we are implementing it. But with the holidays, family, dinners etc, it's been so hard to do that for her. We'll get back there.
Scott and I got some new things too! I got a juicer ( which I've wanted for so long!) It's one of those things that I wanted, but didn't want to buy. There are plenty of more important things to get for my kitchen. But now I have one! Thanks Bro. -- Rachel got me some eucalyptus and spearmint (YUMMMMMY!) items from the " tranquil " or " relaxing" stuff from bath and body works. Along with some foot soak. Oh, does she ever know how to get a gift for a new mommy!! Scott got some new oakleys from mom! I got a SEWING MACHINE!! I was a little timid at the thought of having a sewing machine for the mear fact that I don't know how to use one. But I might be able to take some classes, or something and realize all the CRAFTS I can do with it. So I'm really excited to have it! Especially since I love to do alot of these things I've never done in the past. I think once I become acquainted with it, I will LOVE it! I've already got ideas for next years christmas gifts! HEHE....
We ate at copelands last night instead of gumbo. It was good, but it aint mama's cooking! But we'll do gumbo 101 next time. I'll learn eventually!
